Overview

Metito (operating today under the "Metito Utilities" brand) is a Dubai-headquartered water and wastewater treatment group founded in 1958 in Beirut by the Ghandour family, which develops, builds and operates desalination, water treatment and wastewater/PPP infrastructure across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The group has gone through several ownership changes — IFC, Mitsubishi/JBIC and Gulf Capital previously held stakes, Alpha Dhabi Holding acquired a majority stake in 2023, and in 2025 The Arab Energy Fund (TAEF) and Zamil Group Investment Company became its key shareholders. It continues to win large regional contracts, such as a 2025 Saudi Arabian sewage treatment PPP in Makkah Province and an award-winning water treatment PPP in Zrenjanin, Serbia.
