Overview

DEWA is the exclusive integrated electricity and water utility for the Emirate of Dubai, formed in 1992 from the merger of the Dubai Electricity Company and the Dubai Water Department. It handles generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and desalinated water, and operates the 5GW Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, one of the world's largest single-site solar parks. DEWA is majority-owned by the Government of Dubai and has been listed on the Dubai Financial Market since its April 2022 IPO (18% free float), and continues to expand into district cooling via its Empower subsidiary and AI-driven grid/water technology.
